I was having a serious discussion about losing all the fat accumulated during puasa and Raya with my colleague this afternoon .... in front of two large plates of pasta at Italiannies. It was either the conversation or the bread we had before the main course that we didn't manage to finish our pasta, so had to pack them. I'll be having those healthy pasta for dinner tonight. Besides the cheese, I consider pasta a healthy choice for lunch and dinner (and sometimes breakfast.. hehe).
We were discussing the best places for running. My colleague preferred the Kiara Park at TTDI while I had to be happy with running on the treadmills. My neighbourhood is not so safe for jogging and there's no recreational park in Puchong. The nearest is in Bukit Jalil.
Then we went on and on and on about the sinful foods we had during raya. My colleague was complaining that she became tired easily now and could feel her fitness level had gone down a few notches. While I could feel the extra fat building up around my mid section and thighs. I didn't dare taking my own measurement since Ramadhan, I knew I've gained whatever that's lost back in June 2010. However, the funny thing is, my weight maintains. I suspect I've also lost some of the muscles I built a few months back in all those BodyCombat and BodyPump classes. How sad...
So, now it's time to start working out and eating right again. Starting again is just as difficult as starting to be health conscious the first time. We have to take the same route but might not start at the same point. There's renewed commitment to ourselves and closer monitoring this time.
And, as if it was a sign from God, when we were walking towards the AutoPay station, I saw one of Biggest Loser Asia's participants from the first season (I think he's one of the finalists) walking with his family. I was quite sure it was him because he has this really sweet smile which was easy to recognize. However, I was surprised looking at his body. I remembered he managed to lose quite a lot of weight during the final weigh-in. Looking at him this afternoon, I thought he's gained about half of whatever he's lost back then. My colleague didn't notice him when I asked whether she saw the guy. So, I was left wondering all by myself. The BLA Season 1 ended less than a year ago... what has happened to this guy? If I slack, am I going to be just like him? Oh noooo... all the hardwork would go down the drain.... Yikes!
With that worry and realization, I committed to myself that I AM going to the gym this afternoon, right after work. Good thing is, my boss isn't here to call me up for late meetings that might take my gym time. Hooray!!!
I'm either writing or thinking about writing and most of the times I just stare at the empty wall.

So, what else is good for mental health?
Don't waste your money on shrinks or any medication. I've stopped believing in counselling, shrinks, psychiatrists etc long time ago. It's just so irritating to hear someone telling you, 'Now, let's look at this from another perspective'. When I'm frustrated, angry, sad or just simply emo I don't wanna know about other perspectives or angle. I just wanna let it out of my system. I don't want people to tell me to stay positive because I need to stay negative so that I'll feel free to let my anger out and only then I'd heal better.
If you're anything like me, try these:
If you're anything like me, try these:
Comfort food. E.g donuts....
Geng gossip....the more the merrier... the richer their vocab, the better... (kerana bila mengumpat, semua cerita mesti di exaggerate kan dengan vocab yang canggih...)
Comfort food + kopi mahal. The more expensive, the better....
Geng melalak.... preferably yang ada semua membership card. (Contohnya, awek dalam gambar ni.... hehehe)
High cholesterol food....
Beautify yourself...
Buff your nails... wear blings... wear a biiiig smile..
Some more fooooooood....
Friends with pretty nails....who knows which beauty products to try.
Next time you're feeling miserable, follow my advice.... binge, gossip, melalak and pamper yourself. And don't waste your time and tears on some unworthy guy. Betul dik, dengarlah cakap akak ni. Keep your girlfriends close even if you're married to the bestest gentleman in this world.
Akhir kata, good luck to Jade yang bakal jadik pengantin.

The 33 carat diamond
Miraculously, I was nominated as one of the 'diamonds' for Quarter 1 and 2 of 2007. Hey, I thought hard trying to decide which achievement had made me chosen; yeah, I couldn't think of any. When I thought harder, yup... there was nothing to be so proud of in 2007.
Only this morning I got to know that I was nominated because of my 3 days' investigation in a high profile project with really difficult customer, and I was on standby for 1 month for the same project. (Standby means, if the project engineer is sick/dead, then I'll have to replace him on site.) During the standby period, I, off course had been hibernating here at my cubicle, lah. Hahaha. (If not somewhere in Subang Parade/The Curve searching for latest books/CD/DVD.)

The 3 aweks were all smiles, busy gossipping/posing and obviously not aware that the CEO was in fact giving a speech then trying to to make everybody understand why we're there that night. Sorry boss, born camwhores, what to do.

The supertalented hibernator of 2 Quarters: DNAS receiving the token of appreciation from the CEO. I thought my handshake was too firm, the CEO looked startled for a few seconds. Hmmmm... somebody has a better grip, huh?
After the first round of pasta, chinese fried rice, bbq sausage-chicken-beef, mushroom soup and salad and preparing for second round of servings. It was raining outside, so all tables that were originally placed by the pool had to be brought into the gym. We were stuffing ourselves right next to the treadmill, stepper and stationary bikes. How ironic! Oh well, we renamed it from a Pool-side BBQ dinner to Cardio-machine-side BBQ dinner. And, did I mention that we're supposed to go for a free health screening the next morning? Kekekeke.

The organizer forgot to include live entertainment in our agenda. So, the CC manager tricked us into believing that there'll be some magic show or something after the dinner. It turned out we had to do Pocho-pocho in front of the lift. Yikes, the guys were as 'jegang' as they could be, while us the girls went dizzy and intertwined in our selendangs. We actually stayed back planning to go for a separate coffee session, too bad we were 'terjebak' with pocho-pocho to the tunes of 'Kopi dangdut' song.

Letting Some Hair Down
The details of the night out can also be found here.
My version of the story :
The Friday night highway congestion didn't dampen my spirit to get to MiCasa before I miss anything important (everything turned out to be important, actually). I decided to take Besraya and paid RM1.30 toll as the Sg. Besi jam was unbearable.
I was the last to arrive. Spain greeted me in the lift to bring me up to 6th floor. She was quite surprised and looked rather relieved finding me alone (not with any of my children, as I told them earlier that day).
The first thing I noticed upon entering the room was smoke. So, I decided to take off my blouse & scarf. Hey, MIL and FIL were at my place, it would take me a few days if not years to explain why I came home late at night smelled like a chimney, right?
I was told to sit down and try to absorb as everybody was already in a middle of a very entertaining story, that I couldn't make out what it was all about. So, there we all sat trying to follow each other's story. Contributed some, added more info, injected more humour if not condemning god knows whoever was the bad guy/girl mentioned in the stories.
If you have a 16 years old diary, I know you can imagine how many stories were there to tell. We covered most of it in one night. It was like speed reading 8 women's 16 years old diaries. I wish I could do that with my educational books!! Hahahah.
There were 2 lawyers in the room that night. We were getting free consultation from one of them (Fynn), while the other lawyer (Rina) decided to cook IndoMee goreng with cili api. The latter happens to be a lawyer with very few words (that's difficult to find in this world, okay!)
There were 2 Corp Comm execs, Mimin and Mum. 2 IT execs, Hana and me. 1 Account Manager, Dalie. 1 Customer Support exec, Spain.
If we were to meet in any bar, and happened to be total strangers, I don't think we could even talk or stand each other. But we spent the best 5 years of our teenage life together, in STF. Whenever we met, we just blended with each other. In just a few minutes, it felt like the clock has been turned and as if we've never spent any time away from each other. Although in a different environment, having new functions in life, plus the 16 years of new experiences, friends will always be friends.
I've attended previous reunions, but I enjoyed this one the most because there were only us. No spouses, no children, no outsiders. It felt like Block-C common room all over again! (minus the warden lah.. hahahah)
In my demotivated entry last week, I did wish to be in a very good company and to spend some time talking silly. My wishes came true on Friday night. I really wanna do it again. It helped a lot. I started my Monday with a fresh and cleansed mind.
Thank you my friends, you all are the best!
p/s: I'm still filtering the pictures we took that night.

'HOT' babes@Penang Village
Da'babes decided to have buka puasa at Penang Village TTDI. Little that we know that there were so many cars on LDP that evening, it took me 50 minutes to reach there from Puchong. Once we reached the area, Mr. Hubby made 3 times tawaf around the shoplots to get a good parking spot... and my tummy was humming wildly to ABBA tunes he put on. I was in Urban Crossover mood, ok... why did I have to tolerate ABBA??? Why?

Once seated and plates fully loaded, I ate lah... apa lagi. Then I noticed that the aircond was not functioning... NVM, I was famished. Yeah, it was rather hot and humid (Malaysia maaa... of course lah humid). Then Da'babes became 'HOT' babes... and started snapping photos like nobody's business. I saw some faces from other tables shooting wild glances at us. It's only 9pm ok, please don't get wild just yet... I told myself. Hihi.

The shy-shy babe's name is Mawar. She was so shy-shy I couldn't event snap her picture.

They shared the same genes but very different personality. That's Azureen, Mawar's baby sister. So cheerful, bubbly and sporting.

Well, these 2 couples... one just got married. The other one: we-wonder-when-will-they-decide-to-get-married-or-what-to-do-with-their-lives couple.

The hyperactive babe is Erina. She's seen here squeezing mummy's nose for holding baby Azureen.. Jeles keeee?

Here's Erina the hyperactive babe again, demonstrating to daddy on how to play gamelan. "Daddy, u've spent so much time in foreign land. Now learn how to play traditional music!"
Then Da'babes and spouses and families called it a night about 15 minutes to 10. Da'babes would also like to wish all Hindu viewers A Very Happy Deepavali (especially to Subbra, wherever you are.. hahaha) and Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri to Muslim viewers.

Bon Voyage My Gym Buddy
We had a Bon Voyage dinner on Monday night for Alien
(and of course Erina) who are going to Brazil this week.
No, none of them is going to be in the soccer industry
whatsoever, both of them will be visiting their
teribbly missed and 'very-long-time-no-see' hubby/daddy.

Queen was also there at Friday's (completing all the puzzles and
crosswords that Erina started) clad in a rather too glamourous
baju kurung (that I've never seen her wore before). I must say
that Erina was rather a handfull, I couldn't imagine how Alien
is going to keep up with her in the 20++ hours long flights from
Kl to Brazil. Well, I did suggest to her that it might be an
interesting idea to bring Erina for a short tour in the plane's
cockpit... hihihi.... I could imagine Erina with her twinkly
eyes and mischievous smile pointing to all the switches, buttons,
indicators, gauge and whatnots while her mouth would mumble,
'Apa ni aaaa? Apa tu aaaaa?' And that can drive any pilot
crazy, hahahahah.

So, I'll be missing my gym buddy for the next one month or
so. Anyway, I've frozen my gym membership during the fasting
month, and I'll only be paying about 20% of the usual monthly
fee. Then, after Raya (hopefully after the 7th day of Raya) I'll
be back on the treadmill and cardio wave machine.

Next on the plan is to have a farewell bash for Queen. She'll
be leaving the current company to work in Cyberjaya. Once
Alien is back from Brazil and we're done with all the Raya
crazy eating we're holding the bash. Funny thing is none of
Queen's current colleague (except for Alien) will be invited
to the party. So, it's gonna be all friends from other
companies celebrating Queens departure from this particular company.
Heheheh, we are all intelligent weirdos, aren't we?
And it's gonna be an all-girls affair... wooohooooo .... imagine
that, 4 hours without man!! It'll be fun, I just knew it.

I dated Cik Pijah
Call it the after effect of The L Word marathon (in the office).
I decided to date Cik Pijah. Hahaha... doesn't sound dodgy
enough for you? Well, I actually dated Cik Pijah and we went
for hours doing it non-stop, our specialty of course... that was
talking and talking and talking and not to forget, eating.
We were so busy talking I forgot to take photo of us
together.
If you haven't met Cik Pijah, well I can tell you that
she's one cute chatterbox. You can see her eyes sparkling
whenever she's talking about exciting stuffs such as
running on the treadmill every morning etc... Then when
she smiled her eyes will squint slightly. (Kembang Cik Pijah
... jangan tak kembang).
When we had a get together with the Lady Bloggers last
week I felt like I was 3 years younger. Then when I
went to a lunch date with Cik Pijah, I felt 8 years
younger, wow! Cik Pijah, I think you're a 'get younger'
witch. So, people if you want to feel even younger
go and date Cik Pijah... heheheh promo.... jangan tak
promo. But, for the guys... please remember to be
a gentleman and don't forget to walk her to the car
after your date because she's very particular about
that, okay..
Since I don't have the picture of us having a swell
time at KL Sentral, I hope you'll enjoy these pics
below... Kucheeeennggg.... kucheeeeennnggg... gumuknya
ini kucheeeenngggg....

Cool ladies....

Picture taken at P1zza Hut @ Giant KJ (again...) last Friday.
Err.. menyesalnya berdiri sebelah Zura yang comel cenonet
sebab that made me look like Giant diri sebelah Nobita.
Doraemon dok kat the left most (jangan marah Kimi.. hihihi).
Suniyo (Leilanie) dengan Shizuka (Na) control ayu manjang.
So, I'm gonna let the other 4 ladies to tell the whole detail of the
get together. I'm gonna write on what actually happened before the
lunch. No it was not about me 'mencangkul' laman in the morning. It
was a disturbing conversation I had with Wolf on Wednesday noon.
So, we had lunch that day somewhere in USJ. We were supposed to go
out with another friend of his, but it turned out the guy couldn't
make it that day. Hilang melesap entah ke mana mamat tu.
Dee: I'm taking Friday off.
Wolf: Where are you going?
Dee: I'm having a get together with my fellow makcik2 bloggers.
Wolf: You ni cepat sangat lah.
Dee: (Confused sekejap. Apa yang cepat pulak ni?)
Cepat? Apa yang cepat sangat tu?
Wolf: You lah...
Dee: I kenapa?
Wolf: Cepat sangat mengaku dah jadi makcik.
Dee: But these ladies are okay, they're cool you know!
Wolf: Iyelah tu, now you said nak hang out with makcik2.
10 years from now you realise you need a toy boy.
Dee: Erk... (almost tercekik tulang ikan.)
Hey, I'm not like that lah...
Then, for the rest of the afternoon I was talking
non-stop about all my lady friends including my
super-super-super seniors from school that I loved
hanging out with. I realised I was actually mad.
Why most guys just couldn't see that women above
30 and 40 (even 50 and 60) have interesting
personalities and lives?
We are still cool even though we're not in our 20s and still
enjoyed ourselves a lot in everything we do.
It's all about passion for life, I think. I have friends
who are in their late 40s and could still play
basketball well, mind you.
Happiness is in your heart, not in your husband, the
house or the kids you have.. and excuse me Mr. Wolf
no toy boy could bring us such happiness. We know
exactly how to fill up those holes and gaps (when there
exist any).
Hmmm... marah betul makcik hari tu.

Mak Dara Superstitious

From left, Kimi, Lanie and DNAS.
Picture taken on 2nd August 06 in front of Pizza Hut@Giant KJ.
You people must be feeling really jealous looking at
the three cheeky ladies smiling like there's no
trouble in this world. Well, life is short, so why
worry. If you wanna read the whole rendezvous story
can always go to Kimi's blog. Surprisingly the three
modernized mothers in the picture believed in superstitious
stuffs. Luckily there's the funny young Amiruddin (the waiter
cum cashier at Pizza Hut) in the background (if your eyes can see
microscopic things, his head was between me and Lanie's).
Yeah, never take photo of 3 people only, otherwise bad luck
will befall on one of you.. (or was it one of you will leave this
world? Ntah, makcik pun tak ingat which version my nenek
told me.)
So, I'm actually having author's block a.k.a kepala blank
these last few days. Maybe it's time for that long awaited
get away or 'ME TIME' as what I read in the women magazine
recently. Come to think of it my last 'ME TIME' was back in
May.
I'm on leave today (as well as yesterday afternoon) with no
agenda. As I was happily surfing this morning I came across
a tourism page featuring 'the SPA in Cyberjaya' ... you know
which one, lah. So, I dialled the number and make an
appointment. So, I'm signing off now, wishing you all a great
weekend ahead and don't drink and drive.
Over and out... tadaaaaaaa!

This is real...

There's nothing wrong with your PC, and there's nothing wrong with these
pictures. It's just that we do put electronic keyboards on our working
tables so that we could play some music and sing whenever we're bored
or feeling suicidal.
Naaaah.... so kelentong... But, these pictures are real. Wenaz redeemed
a few goodies from the principal (yeah, she's a product rept. So whenever
she made a few millions worth of sales, she'll get a lot of points.)
Being such loyal department mate, she let me have the keyboard. The rest
of the team wanted the handphones, so Nok1a handphones they got themselves.
I was thinking of giving my kids the keyboard to fill up their spare times
(I thought it was just a small keyboard usually sold at the toy shops).
When the goodies finally arrived at the office reception, Wenaz and me
was shrieking excitedly upon seeing the keyboard. It's huge. I became
the center of attraction at the office when I brought that thing to level
9. By the end of the day almost everybody in the office knew that I
got myself a brand new Cas1o keyboard.

The funny thing was, when I carried the keyboard into my tiny car, the
security guard (a Nepalese, I supposed) asked, "This company also sells
keyboards? That thing is made in Japan." I laughed out loud and had to
spend about 5 minutes explaining to him on how I got hold of that piece
of instrument.

On your left is Alien... and on your right is DNAS.
The picture was snapped by Queen (the photographer,
sebab tu dia takde dalam gambar) on my birthday (hari
semalam ... during my suka-hati-extended-lunch-hour).
We're now gym buddies, okay.
Exactly one year from
now I'm gonna post another picture of us (yeah, right
in front of those Guess? handbags at that exact
spot at The Curve) and by that time you people will
drool... drool.... and drool.... wuhuuuuuuu!!!
Cita-cita tinggi tuuu... hihihi...
By the way, I'd like to thank everybody who sent the
best wishes for my 32nd oooopssss 18th birthday yesterday.
It was marvelous, never in my life had I received floods
of SMSes, emails, YM messages as well as MSN messages.
Some even came personally to wish me at my cubicle and Kimi
even dedicated a blog entry for my birthday. Wow! That's
what I call a thrilling birthday.
So, you see people... as we grow old (nah, 18 is not that
old, right?) it's our friends'/families'/acquintances'
thoughts that matters. Even small gestures could make our
day.
Well, another birthday wish I made (after Portugal was
defeated by France .. grrrrr...) is to live life to the
fullest, Seize every moment and love myself more each day
... heheheheheh...

Mistaken Identity
Today, coming back from lunch,I was strolling happily to the office lift when I heard somebody said,
"You've accepted the meeting invitation, right? " he was a guy from SI group.
I gave a perplexed face and said, "No, nobody sent me meeting invitation."
"Wenaz said, you've accepted and will be coming to the meeting," he sounded so confident.
"No, I'm not attending any meeting today or tomorrow.... " I was getting even
more confused, Wenaz would never commit something on my behalf without discussing with me first.
"Hey, I saw your name in the meeting list Farah...." the SI guy said.
Then I realised he had mistaken me for another girl. There's another girl in the company who looked like me, same height, same figure, same skin type, same rounded face (but Wenaz said I'm actually prettier... heheheh).
I kicked his leg and said,
"I'm Dayang lah, not Farah.... " the SI guy gave a hearty laugh. His friend looked
rather stunned seing me kicking the SI guy.
"I know lah... I know.... saja je menyakat you.... hahahah. Janganlah panik..." the SI guy continued laughing. Now his friend suddenly understood the joke and joined laughing.
Huwaaaa! I was being bullied twice this week. Not fair!
Men are cruel creatures.

... and my movie star double iiiiiiiiiiisssssssssss........
Your movie star double is Drew Barrymore
Who's Your Movie Star Double?
Brought to you by Tickle
A free spirit like you needs to be played by someone who knows what it's like to carve out her own niche. That's why Drew Barrymore would be great for the part. Whether she's starring in unique films like Riding in Cars With Boys and Ever After, or heading out into town with daring dates, Drew refuses to conform to Hollywood's mold for leading ladies. Like Drew, you have a unique outlook and passion that shines through everything you do. And if you're truly like Drew, you're not afraid to show everyone who you are.
Back in high school, were you the one listening to bands that others hadn't discovered yet, or branching out with political or fashion statements of your own? How about raising quirky questions that stumped your teachers? But now that you've grown up some, people are starting to value your individuality and your creative way of looking at the world. Or at least, they will soon. So who better to play you in the role of your life than Drew? Doesn't it seem she was made for the part?
