STF Daripada Kaca mata Srikandi Tun Fatimah 1956-2016

It will not be too much to admit that our lives are generally beyond ordinary comfort that, many in this world can only dream of enjoying. We owe it all to our alma mater, second to our own old folks, for the excellent foundation.

Now that the alma mater is a sexagenarian, it is time to joyfully celebrate, to express our utmost gratitude. Among the many commemorative occasions planned, is a Coffee Table book, carrying the objective of recording and sharing the historical moments and unforgettable stories and memories from 1956 to 2016.

Ok, let's change the mood....

Tempat jatuh lagikan dikenang, inikan pula tempat mencuri buah nangka, eh.... bukan itu aje... tempat kita cabut rumput semalu sampai berdarah tangan, belajar masak maggi baldi, menyakat makcik amah sampai pengsan, kena denda pergi kelas demerit hampir setiap minggu, 'escape' prep duduk bawah tangga sampai tertidur, hambat 'intruder' guna kayu hoki dan banyak lagilah kenangan dan peristiwa sepanjang nak mula belajar jadi dewasa.

It was full of fun and love.

Belum abis rehearsal perut dah kenyang, Alhamdulillah.

Kami sampai awal pagi tu sebab budak-budak ni nak masuk 5KM Batik Fun Run tapi sorang pun taknak pakai batik.

Pada pagi acara tu kami semua datang awal. 6.30am dah sampai Presint 18, Putrajaya. Semua taknak lewat sebab Batik Fun Run tu flag off pukul 7.30.

Sambil tunggu runners mengabihkan 5KM tu, geng-geng usahawan dok set-up gerai masing-masing.

Para pemenang Best Dress untuk 5KM Batik Fun Run: Batman and Cowgirl. Kreatif sungguh!
YB Datuk Emy pun tunjuk skill main basketball dalam acara Dunk It with YB.

Sebahagian daripada my Zumba team

Baru nak request lagu Joget Angan Tak Sudah ataupun lagu Siti Nurhaliza, dia dah nak balik.
Fuh! Nasib baik ada prepare lagu untuk 90minutes Zumba. Kalau tak, pening juga.

Our second Zumba session. Masa first session tak sempat ambik gambar pun.

Ini Shawqi punya bib. Dia menang Lucky Draw juga!

Shawqi muka selamba je lepas menang lucky draw pergi lepak mamak minum Milo.

Dah 3 hari berlalu pun, rasa macam susah betul nak move on dari Srikandi Sports Carnival ni. Tak tahulah kenapa, tapi rasa macam gilang gemilang sangat event ni. Dinner kat PICC pun kalah kot. Hehe. Sebenarnya tak sedar pun ini event besar sampailah tengok runners flag off pagi tu. Alhamdulillah semua berjalan lancar. Adalah sikit-sikit glitch sini sana, tapi overall it's a huge success to Srikandi.

Back to school 2016

Bismillahirrahmaanirrahiim.
Ini kejadian bulan April sebenarnya, tapi baru ni terfikir nak upload gambar-gambar ni. Sejak-sejak asyik layan WhatsApp memang malas nak update blog.
So, acara Back To School ni diadakan bersempena sambutan Jubli Intan STF.
Siap subcon dekat kengkawan mintak tolong buatkan.

Pada pagi kejadian, kami telah berduyun-duyun menaiki bas dua tingkat syarikat Kiffah ni ha. Memang agak kecohlah bila naik bas ramai-ramai. Kalau zaman sekolah dulu heboh, zaman ni lagilah sebab siap bawak anak beranak lagi.

Excited dapat naik bas double decker

Kami sampai lambat kat STF sebab ada accident dekat area Kulai. Sampai-sampai sekolah je semua terus serbu acara Sumbangsih murid-murid tingkatan 5. Shopping apa yang patut. Srikandi pun ada bukak booth kat acara ni, menjual segala aneka Srikandi Merchandise. Yang paling laku, of courselah fridge magnet. Kengkawan yang dekat KL siap order dekat WhatsApp ok sebab taknak ketinggalan nak jadi pemilik fridge magnet limited edition tu.

Aktiviti melepak di kantin STF selepas penat shopping

Posing sambil tunggu bas nak pergi check-in kat Hotel M-suites

Bila dah check-in kat M-suites masing-masing pun bersiap-siap nak pergi ke acara sebelah malam pula di STF. Bila dah masuk bilik semua pakat tidur terbongkang barang 10 minit, power nap kononnya sebelum berebut toilet nak mandi dan solat. Lepas bersolek berjam-jam maka semua orang pun dah ready nak pergi dinner DJC.

Posing ngan Nita sementara menunggu bas kat lobi hotel

Posing ngan Dr. Sadhana pulak

Ambik gambar ramai-ramai sebelum muka masing-masing comot

Masa ni committee dok buat last minute touch-up apa yang patut. Kami pun dok serbu photobooth nak ambik gambar kenang-kenangan. Batch 91 awal-awal dah book satu meja panjang nak lepak ramai-ramai.

Hiburan sebelum dinner

Batch 67 - the purple ladies yang sporting teramat-amat

Terjumpa orang kampung kat sini. Orang Kuala Triang, katanya.

Kalau dulu, takde lah nak jalan santai. Semua lari pecut siap angkat kain bila ada lauk ayam masak merah masa lunch.

Wajib ambik gambar kat koridor.

Dulu-dulu bila Ramadhan mesti Ustazah Kamariah jadi imam terawih. Dia mesti baca ayat-ayat yang best.

Dengan Ustazah Kamariah di bilik guru

Tunggu bas nak balik hotel untuk check-out. Semua dah excited sebab nak pergi melawat JPO pulak.

Enche' & Paie buat kelakar le ni. Masa Fun-Day.

Dinner hasil duit yang dikutip masa Fun-Day.

Aktivity round compound plus cam whoring.

Ini kelas saya, 1(1) tahun 1987.

This is me! minus 20 years and 25kg.

We had our 20 years reunion last Saturday. It was a hi tea and dinner event because we figured out having one meal will not be enough for us. Even that event was extended until breakfast the next day, for those who were staying in the hotel for the night. I must say it was a very successful reunion and congratulations to the organizing committee. As per Spena's posting in our Group, it all started during one of the lepak sessions at Ajune's place. The idea to have a big reunion had been discussed many times. We only managed to organize a mini reunion in 1997, I think at Sunway Resort and Hotel. It was just a short dinner, no speech, no games, not many things on the agenda. It was just eating and gossiping.

So, last weekend's event was more organized, although I was told that the time spent planning and making arrangement were only a few days, with only two meetings. It went so well and everyone present was happy. This time, some of us had to spend some time or asked around to remember a few faces. None of us actually changed much but it's been 20 years, we blamed ageing brains for forgetting some of the names.Hehe...

Pictures from the dinner have been uploaded to FB but I'm patiently waiting for the copies from our professional photographer to be put here. Until then, be patient with the current internet speed, y'all. It will take time to fix.

The Glittering Le Femme Srikandi dinner and S4S launch

This entry is just to add a few more points to the FAQ written by Kak War in Srikandi’s blog.

The Srikandi For Srikandi fund has been discussed for many months. The main agenda for the night is to raise fund so that we can help those Srikandis in need. The fact that many Srikandis have been very supportive to the Association and each other has proven that each and every one of these unsung heroes (heroines la kot) should be recognized. Although they have always chosen to remain anonymous, we are still going to give them many rounds of applause that night and pat their backs for always being there and willing to help with their time, money and endless effort.

So, this Glittering La Femme dinner is not just about dining, networking, histerical laughing (but, Rina we promise we’ll not laugh during your performance – we’ll sing along if possible), and raising fund. It’s also for recognizing and showing our gratitude towards all Srikandis who have been most helpful throughout the years. We might not be able to announce each of their names, but this message must get through to them and all of us will continue praying for their success and happiness. There’s no way for us to repay them for all those time, money, effort, expertise, advise, tears, sweat, petrol, toll charges, plane ticket etc.

My fellow Srikandis, please take this opportunity to come and have a lot of fun and at the same time help make S4S a successful one. The Association might not get a cent of that few billion ringgit stimulus package (as you all might have came across in the national newspaper last month but there’s almost no mention about it these last few weeks), so this is one of the ways we can help cushion the blow on some of our beloved sisters. Today, the automotive industry and manufacturing are being hit rather hard by the economic situation. Tomorrow, we can’t even guarantee that we’ll still be living in the same house we slept in last night.

The economic theory is quite funny. But the truth is we have to continue spending in order to keep the economy going. No business will thrive if all of us decide to keep the money under our pillow. It’s time to help others so that in the future we’ll get similar help whenever needed.

Of Pot luck and some tips

I just luuuuuuurve pot-luck parties. Not only we’ll get the chance to sample the best of other people’s kitchens, we’ll also get to ‘tapau’ left-overs (which is usually a lot of them). I must have been among the few last people to know about Srikandi’s supposed to be Aidilfitri Open house (which was held during Haji season already). Itupun sebab makcik kena publish dalam blog. Otherwise, I would have missed it. I was assigned to a new project recently (with very tight deadlines – macam tak biasa), so my frequency of retrieving my free mails adalah sangat jarang.
The open house was held in Sg. Buloh and I was asked to bring sweets and candies for the kids. I asked Mr. Hubby to buy some sweets at the Pasar Malam on Friday night, tapi kat pasar malam tu takde jual sweets lah pulak.
So, I baked some chocolate moist cupcakes sebab bahan-bahan semua dah memang sediakala ada dalam fridge. Since I haven’t learned on frosting, piping, garnishing and whatnots, I decided to settle with basic chocolate syrup frosting and some ‘purbakala’ style garnishing – utilizing what ever I could find in the fridge, lah. The colourful buttons are Hershey’s mini kisses, while the ‘kelopak bunga’ are almond flakes.

A definitely big NO to my diet (eh, macam I diet...). I think one piece is more than 300 calories. That translates to 40 minutes of cycling. Tapi the choc syrup and choc moist cake sangat sedap (ye, saya tengah puji diri sendiri nih), I had 3 pieces of them.

The design was supervised by Mr. Wazif. He has good eyes on arts and artistic things. (ni sessi memuji anak sendiri, can skip this whole paragraph if you think you’ll feel ‘berbulu’ reading this, hihihi) Wazif has artistic hands too. He scored A for coloring during his exam. They were to color a picture of a few flowers and leaves aje sebenarnya, but Wazif’s coloring exam paper came out resembling a beautiful batik pattern, even I was impressed. Maybe next year I should ask Wazif to draw my portrait, mungkin dia akan lukis Monalisa… hahaha. I think he inherits it from Mr. Hubby because I am so tangan kayu.

Wazif on his TADIKA graduation day on Sunday.

Okay, back to the open house yang sangat meriah dengan very delicious food and sangat seronok surrounded by very familiar faces. Frankly speaking, I knew less than 15 people at the party as most of them are our super-duper-truper seniors. Not many of the 80s and 90s Srikandis came. If it was not because of Ayu Afeera, we would have been the youngest Srikandis at that event. Hehehe. It felt so good to realize that we’re still very young. Iyelah, kat ofis ramai orang panggil ‘akak’, kalau pegi shopping ramai orang panggil ‘makcik’. When there were 40+ people calling you adik or ‘nak’, memanglah terasa amat muda belia.

I managed to cilok the following pictures from tigerlaneboy’s blog and Spain’s FB:

This pose was supposed to be the tribute to the 60s Srikandis. Jari letak kat pipi, okay. Tersilap, mata tertengok camera. By right I should have been staring at a distant object as if I was thinking of the long lost boyfriend who went to fight the communist and never came back.

Someone snapped this while I was happily mengumpat with Spain. I like having my pics taken with Spain. Although I know I am heavier than her, but most of the times I appear smaller. Hehehehe.... Thank you optical illusion.

Haaaa.... count the containers. One, two, three and four. Seasoned pot-luckers must have learned this trick. Since you've already knew you'd be asked to tapau food later, why not bring as many containers as possible. Kalau bawak empty containers, nanti malu, kan? So, put your food in multiple containers lah. Kalau buat 20 bijik karipap, letaklah 5 bijik in each container. Later on, when it's tapau time, you can put the rendang, kuah laksa, mee rebus, ketupat, satay etc in separate containers. Balik rumah, terus masukkan ke dalam fridge so that tak payah cook dinner for the night. Bijak tak makcik?

Undilah adikku yang sorang ni

I hope you're following Nescafe Kickstart on TV3. Hey, I'm such a telly junkie these days... I've been watching re-runs of CSI Miami, I could almost memorise the dialogues... hahahah.

So, this entry is dedicated to Ninie, who happens to be my super junior in STF. Didn't get the chance to meet her in school, otherwise my body dah elastic macam pompuan dalam cerita Mr. Incredible tu dah gamaknya...

If you've never voted for anybody in any of the Reality TV programs, I tell you, you must vote for Ninie. You wanna know why? Because she has improved many people's quality of life and she will continue to do so with her Yoga.

You can vote her

by typing NK NINIE and send to 33511
or dial 13721 and press '2' for NINIE

starting from (Saturday, 7 APRIL 2007) 7.30pm
right after the showing of second last episode of Nescafe Kickstart.

Voting period is one week from 7th April,
until 11.30am on Grand Finale day
which will be showing LIVE Sunday, 15 APRIL 2007.

Don't miss the show people... this show is really about living your dreams. And by now, I'm sure you all know whose dream will help others achieve their dreams, too. Undilah Ninie, yeay!

By the way, I have to confess that I'm so jealous of her because she gets to do the things she loves day in and day out; while I'm stuck here behind this boring cubicle staring at black screen with green fonts most of the times (that's Telnet session, if you'd like to know).

P/s: Akak taknak komisyen dik.

D.S.U.S: DNAS's View

In the midst of juggling career, family, children, blogging and gym, any smart solution for the home, I will accept with wide opened arms. Be it how to make beds in 2 minutes flat; or minimizing shirt ironings; or getting laundry done with less hassle; or ultimate maths games for pre-schoolers, they're some of the petty things (husbands claimed this!) in dire needs of smart solutions.

A few years ago, Srikandi started a campaign to collect recipes from everybody within the STFOGA e-groups as well as others who have no access to emails. Delicious and practical recipes of various sorts started pouring into the group mails. Being a curious woman, I did experiment with some of them.

It was quite a wonder to discover that there are actually easier ways to prepare some dishes, that looked complicated enough for some people that they just give up cooking it upon looking at the list of spices required. I agree, it’s true that some spices’ names are as alien and confusing as algebraic equation to a Standard One students. There was a myth that grew in me that in order to be able to cook an excellent dish, one has to attend the advanced cooking classes, become a qualified Chef or having spent 5 years slaving in front of the hot stove. Only now I accept that it was truly a myth.

Not too long ago, I thought Nasi Beriyani Hujan Panas was only for the expert makcik and Oreo Cheesecake might take ages to prepare. My perceptions were entirely changed when I first tried the Tomato Shrimp. I once saw the same dish being prepared by a relative and I thought, 'Oh I'd never be as good as her'. When I saw the recipe posted by a Srikandi, I wrote it down and tried it at home. It was surprisingly easy and knowing exactly when to use 'garam jantan' and 'garam betina' actually helped a lot in improving the taste. Well, that hint was shared by someone from ‘Down Under’, mind you.

So, all the recipes contributed by fellow Srikandis were then compiled and presented in a Recipe Book entitled D.S.U.S – Dari Srikandi Untuk Srikandi. I remember they were a few names being proposed when we were trying to find a suitable title: among them were Dari Dapur Srikandi, Srikandi’s Wok, Selera Srikandi and a few others. D.S.U.S was chosen and I have to admit that the name itself is as intimate as the book content itself. The special hints, notes and anecdotes are among the things you’ll find in D.S.U.S and not in any other recipe books available off the shelves. When I first flipped through the pages, it felt like the person herself was teaching me on how to prepare the dishes. Some even shared how they got the recipes, the origin, the story behind it and how their family and friends loved it.

The D.S.U.S pages might not appear as glamorous as those priced a lot higher, but what matters to me most is the result; and thinking of the sweat, tears and laughter of the Srikandis who produced D.S.U.S, I know it’s going to be another prized heritage. Hey, this also happened to be one of the smartest solutions I’ve found so far.

D.S.U.S Launch and Srikandi AGM

The event. D.S.U.S is the abbreviation for Dari Srikandi Untuk Srikandi. One of the SKs asked during the launch, 'Ada DSUS aje ke? Desas nya mana?' So cute lah, lawak orang lama... :)

Merchandise counter. Jual-jual.... bakul! bakul! Mari beli bakul! Batik ada, buku resepi ada, VCD ada, DVD teater pun ada!

Registration counter, outside the meeting hall.

Bread cooking demo by Cik Na Da Chef. Sungguh menggoda bau roti itu, kreuk-kreuk bunyi perutku. Apasal lah tak pegi lunch, event ni kan hi-tea, mana ada nasi.

All SKs scrutinizing the reports. Ad-hoc audit le tu.

Cute bear, we got during the 'selawat'.

2 SKs yang paling comel.

So, we got ourselves new EXCOs for 2007-2009. The names will be formally published in STFOGA website. It was sad to learn that we didn't make it as one of the selected Sekolah Kluster pilots, but we heard there'll be another round of evaluation this year. Yeay!

The other big news was we're having a Tiga Serangkai Dinner with SDAR old boys and STAROBA middle of this year. Hey, that's only 2 months away! Baju batik hijau aku bila nak tempah ni....

More pictures can be viewed at Leymah's fotopages.
